Stek promotes Marleen Veenstra and Simon Boersen to partner

We are very pleased to announce that Marleen Veenstra and Simon Boersen have been promoted to partner, effective 1 July 2023. Their appointments further strengthen our Finance team and Dispute Resolution team and reinforce our ambition to provide approachable excellence: personalised legal services tailored to our clients’ needs.

Marleen specialises in financing transactions, focusing mainly on acquisition finance and general corporate lending. She represents banks and other lenders as well as investors and borrowers. Marleen has extensive experience in cross-border transactions and has worked as a senior legal counsel at a large Dutch bank for 5.5 years.

Simon is a determined and experienced litigator with an extensive track record in complex civil cases involving fraud, contractual disputes, competition litigation, corporate-transaction disputes and cross-border enforcement. He regularly contributes to legal journals and post-academic programs.

Herman Wamelink (partner Finance): ‘Marleen’s contribution to the success of our Finance practice is indisputable. She combines a deep and broad understanding of banking and finance transactions with a keen eye for the context in which our clients operate. The feedback we receive from our clients underlines Marleen’s excellent ability to deliver pragmatic high-quality advice while overseeing the process and timing. The strong position of our Finance practice is enhanced further by her appointment to partner.

Gerben Smit (partner Dispute Resolution): ‘We are proud of Simon’s significant contribution to Stek and our team. Simon is a strategic expert in commercial and competition litigation, recognised by both clients and colleagues alike. With his appointment, we strengthen our Dispute Resolution team and boost the team’s capacity to handle complex commercial disputes. After joining Stek in 2021, Simon proved to be an excellent fit for our team. His energetic style, expertise and contributions in the academic field are an important asset to our practice.’
