Stek welcomes three new counsel

We are pleased to announce that Marleen Veenstra, Guy Pegels and Max Hetterscheidt were appointed counsel.

Frans Haak (partner finance): “We are pleased to announce the appointment of two counsel to our finance team. Marleen has worked as senior legal counsel at ABN AMRO Bank for the past 5 years. She was an attorney at Allen & Overy for almost 10 years prior to that. With her broad experience and solution-oriented attitude she is a perfect fit for our team. Guy has been an important member of our finance practice for years. He is a home-grown talent and we are proud that Guy takes this next step in his career.”

Gerben Smit (partner dispute resolution): “Max is an experienced and driven litigator. As counsel he will play a major role in the growth of our (international) litigation & arbitration practice. We are delighted with Max’ promotion.”

Marleen starts as counsel in our finance practice group. Her expertise includes finance and security rights, with a focus on syndicated loans, acquisition finance and general corporate lending. Marleen represents banks and other lenders as well as borrowers and has extensive experience in cross-border transactions. Marleen started her career as a lawyer at Allen & Overy. She then gained years of experience in-house as senior legal counsel at ABN AMRO Bank. With this transfer to Stek she returns to private practice as a lawyer.

Guy started his career at Stek and has been active in our finance practice group for over ten years. He has extensive experience in leveraged finance, general corporate lending and cross-border financings with a sector focus on leisure financing transactions. Guy served as (seconded) legal counsel for ABN AMRO Bank in 2017.

Max works in the dispute resolution department. He has ample experience in cross border litigation & arbitration. His practice covers the full range of commercial litigation, with an emphasis on contractual and tort-law liability, the enforcement of court orders and private international law. Max regularly acts as counsel in (international) arbitration. He is recommended in the Legal 500 EMEA 2019 and 2021 for commercial litigation. Max started his career as lawyer at Houthoff and Allen & Overy and transferred to Stek at the beginning of 2018.
