We are pleased to announce the expansion of our Dispute Resolution and Corporate M&A practice groups with the appointment of two new Counsel: Barbara Elion (Dispute Resolution) and Dirk de Graeff (Corporate M&A) effective 1 January 2026.
Barbara Elion has been part of Stek since 2021 and has a broad litigation and advisory practice, with a focus on corporate dispute resolution. She advises and litigates on matters such as shareholder disputes, directors’ and supervisory directors’ liability, governance issues and post-M&A procedures.
With Barbara’s appointment, the Dispute Resolution practice welcomes a Counsel who combines legal precision with an eye for interpersonal dynamics and the broader context. This approach enables her to support clients in finding solutions that align with the needs of the business and the specific circumstances of each case, making her a valuable addition to the practice group.
Gerben Smit, partner Dispute Resolution, comments on the appointment:
“Barbara is an exceptional lawyer whose pragmatic approach consistently earns the confidence of clients and colleagues. Since joining Stek in 2021, she has been instrumental in the growth and strength of our corporate litigation practice. Her appointment as Counsel is a well-deserved recognition that further reinforces our strong DisputeResolution-team.”
Dirk de Graeff advises corporate clients on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, investments and joint ventures. He has particular experience in healthcare and private equity transactions, including the representation of private equity funds and management teams in leveraged buyouts. He also regularly advises on search fund transactions.
Dirk’s appointment underscores the continued strengthening of our transactional practice and our dedication to delivering high-quality, strategic and hands-on support to our clients.
Eelco Bijkerk, partner Corporate M&A, comments on the appointment:
“Dirk combines sharp analytical skills with a solutions-oriented mindset. He has become a trusted advisor to our clients in complex transactions. His appointment as Counsel is a well-deserved recognition of his significant contribution to the growth and strength of our Corporate M&A practice.”
With these promotions, Stek strengthens its Corporate M&A and Dispute Resolution capabilities, further enhancing our position in the Dutch transactional landscape.
We warmly congratulate Barbara and Dirk on their well-deserved promotions and look forward to their continued contributions to our clients and our firm.
