Martha is an energy law and regulated markets expert. Martha started her career with Clifford Chance and joined Stek in 2007. Martha was appointed as counsel per 1 July 2017. Martha advises on sector specific regulation and litigates in energy regulatory civil and administrative law proceedings. Among others, Martha has extensive experience acting on behalf of grid operators and large industrial customers with complex disputes pertaining to administrative market procedures, qualification of infrastructure, power outages, applicable tariffs and the scope of regulated activities. Martha also advises energy suppliers and producers on statutory obligations (such as licensing), consumer protection law and in matters regarding unfair market practices and advertising. Futhermore, Martha has ample experience in drafting contracts and is frequently involved as a specialist within Stek teams in energy related transactions, projects and finance matters.
For many years, Martha was the co-author of the section on energy regulatory developments in the Netherlands Journal for Energy Law. Chambers Europe recommends Martha in the practice area ‘Energy & Regulatory Resources: Regulatory’. Chambers: “Clients value Martha Brinkman for her technical knowledge and client service.
